Leipzig will pause their chase for second place in Bundesliga with an away game against Werder Bremen in the German Cup semis. Hosts Werder Bremen will be happy with this break from league action, where they are just a point above the relegation playoff spot and three ahead of the 17th placed Hertha Berlin. They hope for an improvement from the four straight losses registered ahead of this game. This is the toughest of the two semi final matches in the cup and Leipzig will hope their recent dominance over Bremen stretches on. In their last four meetings, Leipzig have won all. This is the second time Bremen face Leipzig this month; in their earlier meeting, Leipzig won 4-1. Werder Bremen are coming from a 3-1 away loss to Union Berlin and heading back home doesn’t hold much promise; they haven’t done well there this season.
