Watford vs Southampton Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Watford lost their most recent game at Burnley and remain 16th in the Premier League, a point above the bottom three. They need to get some wins and host Southampton who are only two places above the Hornets but with nine points more. Watford may be the only side in the league to have beaten newly crowned champions Liverpool, but they are still in relegation trouble. Only one point has been earned in the three games that have followed that surprise win. The victory over Liverpool is their only win in their last nine league matches. The last three games have all had under 2.5 goals scored in them with Watford only scoring once. Take away the three goals they put past Liverpool and Watford have only scored twice in five league games. They can thank their lucky stars that at present the bottom five in the league are all in poor form. A win over Southampton would give them some breathing space. With bottom-of-the-table Norwich City, next to visit Vicarage Road, Watford have a good chance of earning some valuable points. They have only won four home league games this season but have just one loss in the last eight. That was to Everton and they led that 2-0 before losing 3-2.

Southampton lost at home to Arsenal on Thursday but still look safe for another season. They are ten points clear of the bottom three, so it'd take an almighty collapse for them to get into relegation trouble. Even so, they have lost 16 league games this season including three of the last four. Their last away game ended in victory when beating Norwich 3-0. That was their fourth away win from the last six in the league, so they could well cause Watford a few problems. The best bet here is on under 2.5 goals being scored in the game.
