Between them these two teams have lost 18 league games as they continue their struggle for some form of consistency. Watford started off with a run of four straight wins but then went through a poor run with just two wins in 12 games  They were on the up again with seven points from three games but then lost at home to Chelsea on Boxing Day. Now they host Newcastle United and have a run of games against sides around them in the table before facing Tottenham. Watford are ninth in the table and could yet push for a place in the Europa League. 

Newcastle United can only dream of European football as they are 15th in the table only five points above the relegation zone. They have only won four league games this season and three of those were won in November when they nearly worked out what consistency means. Since then they have won one (against bottom of the table Huddersfield Town), drawn two and lost three. Boxing Day saw a heavy defeat at Liverpool with several first-teamers rested. Only two away games have been won on their travels and both at teams threatened by relegation. Watford can get the win here.
