A Premier League return for Watford and Leicester City pits the pair against each other at Vicarage Road on Saturday. Watford, 17th in the table, are in a tight relegation battle in which they are level on points with the teams immediately below and above them. The surprise package of the campaign, Leicester are third in the table, four points off second and five clear of fourth. Watford started the season in abysmal fashion, failing to win their first 11 Premier League games. That victory over Norwich was a false dawn as Watford went on another five-game run without a win. It was only midway through that streak that things began to change for the Hornets when they appointed Nigel Pearson as manager. Improved performances followed with results to match and they clawed their way up the table. A wobble in the second half of the season threatened to undo the good work achieved by Pearson but impressive home form has kept Watford going. They are the only team to have beaten Liverpool in the league this season, that win coming at Vicarage Road, a venue where they have won four of their last six league matches.

Leicester also had a tough period early in 2020, enjoying only one win from a seven-game sequence. This was brought about by an injury to key midfielder Wilfried Ndidi. An upturn in form coincided with his return to the starting eleven and the Foxes went into the hiatus on a high after inflicting a 4-0 defeat on Aston Villa. Premier League top scorer Jamie Vardy bagged two goals in that victory, ending a personal eight-game goal drought. Vardy scored in the last meeting Leicester had with Watford, a 2-0 win for the Foxes right before Pearson took over the Hornets. A tough run-in for Leicester could jeopardise their Champions League spot and a trip to Vicarage Road will be testing. Leicester failed to win four of their last six away games and have lost on their last two trips to this venue. We suggest backing the home side in a double chance bet.
