The fire from Watford’s shock win over Liverpool was quickly extinguished by Crystal Palace and they will be looking to get another big result when they host Leicester City. Watford are placed 17th with 27 points as Leicester are third with 53 points. For Watford, the target here would be to get three points to rise further away from the drop zone as they are just out of it by goal difference. The bottom of the log is congested and their 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace only served to complicate Watford’s situation. At home, they have drawn with Arsenal, beaten Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United, and they will be keen on another key win here. Watford have one win in eight matches, a run they will be looking to bring to a stop if they want to improve their chances of survival. They also have defensive work to do, after managing just one clean sheet in the last seven games. They can bank on their home form, having lost just one of the last five home games, but they will still need to do a better defensive job, having conceded seven goals in the five matches. They have three wins and one loss in their last five league games at home. In four of the five home league matches, they have scored two or more goals. They have failed to score in one of the last five home league matches, and the remaining four have all ended in over 2.5 goals. Six of the last 10 meetings between these two sides have yielded over 2.5 goals.

Leicester City, on the other hand, head to this game on the back of two straight wins, the most recent, a 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa. Leicester’s top striker Jamie Vardy was in the headlines once again with his brace in the game as he returned to the top of the scorers’ standings and he will definitely be a key man here. Losses to Manchester City and Norwich City raised questions over their ability to command a top four finish but with wins over Birmingham City in the FA Cup and the win over Villa should be enough to return the confidence in the Leicester team. They have three clean sheets in their last five matches and will want to holds on that against a side that scores a lot at home. Leicester have managed just four wins in their last 12 matches, but still hole on as the second best defensive side in the league, even though it hasn’t shown much in their recent matches. Earlier in the season, they had good results away from home but lately it has been tough for Leicester; they have one win in the last five away matches – a 1-0 FA Cup victory over Brentford. They have lost three and drawn one in the remaining four. They have no win in their last three away league matches and have scored just once in the process. They however have three wins in the last four matches against Watford but have lost in each of their last three visits at Watford.
