Arsenal’s top four push will see them go in the hunt for three points at Watford on Sunday. The two teams are on the opposite sides of the league standings and battling on very different fronts. The hosts, Watford are 19th in the league standings, with 19 points and face an Arsenal side placed sixth with 45 points. Heading into this game, Watford have managed just five wins in their 26 league matches, a third of Arsenal’s wins so far and having played two more games. They are coming from a 0-0 draw with Manchester United and will want to build on it, having collected four points from their last three matches. Watford’s form hasn’t been the best though; they have just one win in their last 15 matches, and it is worse at home, where they have seven straight losses. In seven of their last 10 home matches, Watford have conceded two or more goals and they have nine losses in the 10 games. Their only win at home was in November 2021, against Manchester United. Two managers have already been sacked at the team, a pointer to what their season has been like.

Arsenal are enjoying a stable run as they prepare for this game. Taking part in just one competition  is working well so far and though they’ve had a few injuries to key players, it hasn’t shown. Their recent wins haven’t been the smoothest, but they’ve brought out one aspect that has for years missed in their game - a fighting spirit. The biggest prize Arsenal can get this season is a place in the top four, and that is what they are eyeing even as they go into this game. They have three games in hand against the two teams above them, and trail them by just two points. In their last six meetings with Watford, Arsenal are unbeaten, and they go into this game unbeaten in their last four matches as well. Arsenal are coming from a hard fought 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, their third straight win, and they’ve also won each of their last three away matches. Emile Smith Rowe, who missed the Wolves game is expected back here but Takehiro Tomiyasu will still be out with a calf injury.
