Both Villarreal and Getafe had midweek matches on Wednesday, in the Copa del Rey and while Getafe left it late to beat Real Valladolid and progress, Villarreal had to come back from two goals down to draw with Espanyol. One positive aspect about Villarreal is their fighting spirit and they have been scoring quite regularly of late, netting two goals or more in six of their last seven matches. In their last 20 matches across all competitions, Villarreal have picked just four wins and 11 draws and only five losses. They are winless in their last five league games and have posted just one win in the last 12 and at home, in La Liga, they have picked one win in the nine they have played this season, scoring in six. The two sides go to this game bearing different ambitions; while Villarreal only seeks to rise from the drop zone, Getafe will be hoping to rise to the Europa League places as they are just a point out, placed seventh and with 25 points, eight ahead of Villarreal. In the last 15 away matches in the league, stretching back to last season, they have lost just twice and won seven. In the last four meetings, each of these two sides has won twice and only two matches have produced over 2.5 goals in the last 10 meetings between the sides. Head to head, Villarreal holds the edge with 17 wins in 28 matches, while Getafe have won seven.
