Vasco da Gama have managed to hold onto their top six placing in the Brazilian Serie A despite a patchy run but they will have a real test of their mettle on Sunday 9th July when they host in – form Flamengo who are straight from a 5 – 2 away win in the Copa Sudamericana. Vasco da Gama have managed two wins in their last five matches, the rest ending in two losses and a draw. They are well rested having had no continental assignments in midweek and they will be hoping to make this count. One aspect that they also hope will work for them is their home record; Vasco da Gama have lost just once at home in their last 14 matches and scored in each of the last seven home games. Their last five have yielded four wins and a loss, scoring nine goals and conceding eight.
