Valencia didn't get off to the best of starts in La Liga last season. They became known for the constant stream of draws, having 16 league draws. Despite all those draws they finished fourth in the table and qualified for the Champions League. A form guide for the last ten league games of the season actually had them top with 21 points. Their last three league games were all won with 11 goals scored. They only lost three of their last 20 league games and also had a good run in the Europa League losing in the semi-finals to Arsenal. There was another good performance as Valencia won the Copa del Re beating Barcelona in the final. Only one of their last 14 home league games have been lost so this is a tough game for Real Sociedad.

The away side finished ninth in La Liga last season. They missed out on the Europa League by three points losing on the final day of the season to Espanyol who took that final qualifying position. Sociedad can put some blame home form as they had only the 14th best home La Liga record last season. Away form saw them win six league games with eight defeats. That was the sixth best away record in the league which shows how hard it is for away teams to get wins in La Liga. Only one of their last nine away league games have been won.
