Valencia and Getafe are eyeing better runs this season after finishing in the bottom half of the La Liga last season. The two start off the 2021/22 league season with a Friday clash hosted by Valencia, who managed a 13th placed finish on 43 points, five better than 15th placed finisher, Getafe. Valencia had seven preseason friendly matches, winning four of them but they slumped a bit heading to the new season. In their last two, they finished winless, drawing with AC Milan before losing to newly promoted Premier League side Brentford. In the final four, they struggled in attack too, failing to score in two and could also not score more than a goal when they hit the back of the net. As a result, only one of their last four matches has seen over 2.5 goals.

Getafe had a rather positive finish to La Liga, collecting four points that were in the end crucial to their survival. They did finish four points ahead of the relegation zone. They will be keen to carry on with that run and they have done well in preseason, going unbeaten in six. Those, added to their two closing games have Getafe at an unbeaten run of eight and a strong starting point heading to their league opener. In those eight matches, Getafe have kept six clean sheets and failed to score in just two while five have produced under 2.5 goals.
