Our next match prediction takes in a key Europa League clash between FC Utrecht and Lyon. The Cathedral Citizens have home advantage for this opening game of the league stage, but face an in-form Los Gones, who have lost just once in the league this season. Who are we backing to land the victory here?
Six games into the new Eredivisie season, and Utrecht find themselves in eighth position in the table, having won three and lost three of those games. Lyon have fared slightly better in their first five games in Ligue 1, with Los Gones only suffering one defeat and winning four matches to lie in a highly impressive third place in the table.
Heading into this fixture, Utrecht's form is a little mixed. They defeated PEC Zwolle 2-0 away from home, but followed that victory with two 1-0 defeats, first at home to Groningen and then last weekend at Fortuna Sittard. Lyon were seeded into the League Phase of the Europa League so this is their first game in Europe this season. In the league though, they defeated Lens (1-0 away), Metz and Marseille (3-0 and 1-0 at home), before they were beaten 3-1 away to Rennes. However, their most recent fixture saw them bounce back to form with a 1-0 win at home to Angers last weekend.
