The final round of matches in Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup will see USM Alger taking on Supersport United on Sunday afternoon. The hosts currently lead the group standings, while the visitors are fourth. USM Alger will look to cap off the group stages by clinching the top spot. They have won three, drawn one and lost one of their five games in this competition so far and are leading Modern Future in second place by two points. Despite losing their last match in this competition 2-1 to Al Hilal Benghazi last week, the Union booked their place in the knockout stages thanks to Modern Future and Supersport drawing their last game. Therefore, regardless of the outcome here, the hosts will be a part of the last eight but will want to remain in pole position to get a favourable draw in the next round. USM have won both their home games in this competition without conceding and are the clear favourites heading into this one. 

Meanwhile, Supersport United got their CAF Confederation Cup campaign off to the worst possible start, losing each of their first three group stages matches, including a 2-0 defeat to this opponent back in week two. A 2-1 win over Al Hilal in week four kept their qualification hopes alive, but those were dashed last week when they only managed a 1-1 draw against Modern Future. Matsatsantsa are now four points off the qualification spots and will be making their final appearance in this year’s competition in this match. The visitors have also lost both their away games in this competition and have managed just one win in their last seven games in all competitions (W1 D2 L4). With the side already knocked out, Supersport may consider resting a few of their key players here before they resume PSL duty, where they are in the midst of a heated top-three battle.
