Stage 10 of the Tour de France is the last one before the first rest day. It is a day full of climbing with eight categorised climbs, seven of which are a Cat 2. This stage screams breakaway, and with it being Bastille Day, the French riders will be desperate to attack. Let's get stuck into a prediction.
As a French team, Groupama FDJ look sure to attack, but guessing who they send up the road isn't easy. Romain Grégoire was on the attack four times for them in the 2024 tour. He was runner-up in a stage on the Vuelta in 2023 from an escape and won a stage in this year's Tour de Suisse in a breakaway, so he could be the man.
Decathlon AG2R will also want to get riders up the road, and perhaps the man here will be Clément Berthet. He will be required in the big mountains as a domestique for team leader Felix Gall, but has been in good form this year and has top-five stage finishes in the 2024 Vuelta and 2023 Tour de France when sent on the attack.
We have mentioned Julian Alaphilippe a couple of times this tour. He has disappointed, but this could easily be his sort of stage. We saw Luke Plapp win from a break in the Giro; he could contend, and never count out Matej Mohoric, for all that he has had a poor couple of years.

- 165.3km awaits riders on Stage 10 of the Tour de France.
- Although there are eight official climbs, the rolling stage also has plenty of other uphill sections that are uncatagorised.
- 2017 was the last French winner on Bastille Day. Warren Barguil was the man to win that day, but this is the stage so many will want to win.
- Romain Gregoire has a podium in a Grand Tour already at the age of 22, with his Tour de Suisse stage win suggesting he is ready to gain another.

A stage that looks like being one to favour the breakaway riders, so it is a task to try and guess which riders are going to be sent up the road by their respective teams. French riders for French teams will be trying as hard as possible, given that it is Bastille Day, and that's the way we will lean.
Groupama FDJ have a supremely talented young rider in Romain Grégoire. He has already shown what he can do at a Grand Tour break, and at the age of 22, his best days are ahead of him. Our Tour de France Stage 10 prediction is Romain Grégoire each way.
