The pick of the League Cup fourth round matches lined up in midweek will be Tottenham Hotspur taking on Manchester City. The two Premier League sides are coming off contrasting results in their recent matches as they seek to make a leap in the cup competition. We have the predictions ready as the Spurs and the Citizens face off in this match scheduled for Wednesday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The hosts are seeking to end a 16-year trophy drought and the League Cup offers the shortest route towards that. They will be happy to take a break from the Premier League, with recent results not quite going their way.
Manchester City are coming from a labored victory and could also be keen for a break from league play, with an eye on potentially resting a few of their key players. Unlike Spurs though, the visitors have had a much better run, winning each of their last five matches.

Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min has missed the team’s last two matches. It is absolutely not likely that he will be risked for this game as he nurses a thigh injury.
Jed Spence is another player ruled out of the game. Spence scored the late equalizer in the last round of this competition as Spurs seemed to be losing to Coventry City. Manchester City have a number of first team players out injured, though Pep would have overlooked them for this game anyway. Kyle Walker has a thigh issue while Kevin De Bruyne is out with a groin injury.
The new Ballon d'Or winner Rodri is out for the whole season and Oscar Bobb returns to action in January. There’s already an indication that the Spaniard will rotate, to send in some fresh legs so we don't expect to see the league's lead scorer Erling Haaland here.
