As the premier League enters the penultimate round of matches, the big game of the weekend will see Tottenham Hotspur host Leicester City. Going to the match, Tottenham are seventh in the standings, with 55 points while Leicester are fourth with 62 points. Tottenham, finalists in the Champions League last season, will not be taking part in the competition next season and will go to this game only seeking to secure a place in the Europa League next season. They are coming from a 3-1 win over Newcastle United, in which Harry Kane’s second half brace did the magic after the Magpies had threatened to force a share of the spoils. That win served the fourth undefeated outing for Spurs – they have won three of the four and in their final home match they will be looking to make it four straight home wins. Jose Mourinho’s side has this season won 11 and lost four of their 18 home league matches and after suffering a 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture in September, they will hope to collect three points here. In the last seven meetings between these two sides, both teams have scored, while only two of the seven meetings have produced under 2.5 goals. Of Tottenham’s 18 home league matches, both sides have scored in 10 and they have just five clean sheets.

Leicester City cannot afford to drop more points at the moment; they are fourth on goal difference and with Manchester United lurking, they know their margin of error is very slim. After a shock loss to Burnley, Leicester recovered to beat Sheffield United 2-0 and will be hoping to enhance that with a win at Spurs. They have managed just two wins since football resumed and this has badly cost them in the chase for a top four place. The biggest threat to their Champions League hopes though, is the team’s away form; they have no win in the last seven away league matches. They have seven away wins in 18 matches but the last of those came in January and in their last 10 away league matches, both sides have scored in seven.
