Tottenham are prone to having poor periods of form and are in that situation right now. After two league defeats, they are sixth and host Chelsea who are seventh but only behind them on goal difference. The past week hasn't been great at all for Tottenham. They say bad things come in threes and that's what has happened to Tottenham. League defeats to Liverpool and Brighton are bad enough, losing Harry Kane to injury completes the unfortunate trio. Any chance of winning the Premier League appears to have disappeared now they trail Manchester City by 11 points. They are six behind the final Champions League place and do have a game in hand on Leicester City. To keep on their heels though, they need to get back into winning ways. This week they host Chelsea and then West Brom before an away match at Manchester City. Earning at least four points at home this week has to be their target. Only one of their last four home league games have been won. Conceding in seven home league fixtures isn't a great record and it looks hard to keep a clean sheet here.

Chelsea won their first match under new coach Thomas Turkel. It was only a 2-0 home win over Burnley but it's a springboard for them to try and get back into contention for a top four finish. They are also six points behind fourth place but unlike Tottenham, they don't have a game in hand. The win over Burnley was a welcome win after only two victories in their last six league matches. There's a lot of work to do though and their German signings need to start firing. The rest of the season can't just become a fill-in until another summer spending spree. Chelsea come into this game having lost four of their last five away league matches. Five of their last seven away league games have seen them get on the scoresheet.
