Qualifier Aleksandr Vukic bids to make it into the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters. To make it into the last 16 of this hard court tournament, the Australian has to beat 30th seed Tomas Machac. Here's our match prediction.
Aleksandr Vukic is at 91st in the latest rankings so had to go through the qualifiers to get into the main draw. He won both of his matches in straight sets but then ran into trouble in his first round match against Corentin Moutet.
Only two games were won in the first set but he fought back to win the next two for the loss of seven games. Round two saw him cause a surprise when beating the eighth seed Casper Ruud, winning both sets 6-4. He's up to 86th in the live rankings.
World number 33 Tomas Machac will have the aim of getting into the top 32 and being seeded at the Australian Open. He's still in that position after his second round win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
It wasn't an easy match for him though as he had to come from behind to beat the Spaniard. He started poorly with only one game won in the opening set and needed a tie-break in the second to level the match. Machac went on to win the final set 6-4.
September was a mixed month for Machac. He had to retire after just one game when playing in the Davis Cup. That was the second successive match in which he had to retire.
Back fit again, he then reached the last four in Tokyo including wins over Alexei Popyrin (who he retired against) and Tommy Paul. We tip him to beat Vukic.
