It is the first time Togo are participating in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and they are looking to seal a place in the quarters when they face Rwanda. The two nations are separated by a point in Group C – Togo second with four points and Rwanda are third with two points. After a losing start, Togo recovered with a 2-1 win over Uganda in their last match. That was the team’s first win in 10 matches and they head here needing just a draw to advance. Before the win over Uganda, Togo had lost three straight games and the goal conceded in that game means they have gone 11 matches with no clean sheet. In the last five matches in this competition, Togo have three wins.

Rwanda on the other hand, are third in this group and still in contention for a place in the next round. They are one of two nations (alongside Namibia) who have not yet scored at this event. The East Africans have not also conceded a goal. The only other nation to have kept two clean sheets is Morocco. Scoring goals is not Rwanda’s strong point; they have failed to score in the last seven matches, and in the last nine games they have one goal to show. They have five straight draws ahead of this game, all with clean sheets. That makes it seven in their last 10.
