The knockout stages in the Men’s Ice Hockey tournament continue at the Winter Olympics with Sweden taking on Latvia. We have a prediction on the game ahead of the winner taking on the USA in the quarter-finals.
Sweden will have been frustrated with their group display, three of the teams all picking up two wins and finishing on six points apiece. As it was, Sweden ended up third in the group and the only one of the three to play in this first knockout stage.
It was a defeat to Finland that put them in this position, with a match on the horizon taking on the USA if they make it past Latvia. They really should be beating this opponent but Latvia have already surprised.
That came against Germany in the middle of their group games, losing to the USA and Denmark on either side of that victory. It was a strong effort that they produced that day and the USA struggled to break them down in the opening game.
They have struggled to hold Sweden the last twice that they have met them, and although Sweden are not looking as good in this tournament as they have done, it is still a tough task for the Latvian squad.
