Sweden and the Czech Republic will face off at the IIHF World Championship on Monday evening. Recent matches between Tre Kronor (5th seed) and the Czechs (6th seed) have been closely contested, and our prediction here leans toward another tight match.
Sweden have had a mixed start to their World Championship campaign, losing their opening match to Canada 5-3 before bouncing back with a commanding 6-2 victory over Denmark yesterday.
Mattias Ekholm, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Lucas Raymond, Jakob Silfverborg, Viggo Bjock and Linus Karlson got on the scoresheet in the last match. Raymond also notched up two assists.
Tre Kronor have now won six of their last 10 matches across all competitions, as well as five of their last six against this opponent.
Meanwhile, the Czech Republic kicked off their World Championship with an impressive 4-1 victory over Denmark before falling to Slovenia 3-2 in overtime on Saturday evening.
Martin Kaut and Lukas Sedlak were the Czech scorers in the victory over the Danes last weekend. Dominik Pavlat was a largely assured figure in goal, managing 14 saves from 17 shots on goal.
The Czech Republic have split their last 10 matches in all competitions, five wins and five defeats coming into this one.

Our Sweden vs Czechia Prediction
Sweden are one of the dark horses in this year’s IIHF World Championship, but they have yet to live up to expectations, having proven no match for Canada in their opening match of the competition.
The Czech Republic came up agonisingly close against Slovenia last time out, and they showed excellent organisation and defensive solidity in that game. If the Czech’s lose here, we doubt it will be by a big margin. Our Sweden vs Czech Republic prediction is Czech Republic +2.5.
