by Steve Ashfield in Championship Predictions
Promotion chasing Sunderland look to bounce back after their loss to Leeds United on Monday. They are fourth in the Championship and host Hull City who are down in 21st place. Can the Tigers cause a shock? Here’s our match prediction.
Sunderland led on Monday but conceded a 95th minute winner. That ended a run of eight league games of the year and was their first loss in the Championship in 2025.
They are now eight points behind the automatic promotion places but look certain to be in the play-offs. Sunderland are one of only two sides in the Championship yet to lose a home league game this season, the other being Burnley. They have ten wins and four draws with four of the last six being won.
Their last home league match saw them beat Luton Town 2-0. That made it five of the last six home games in which they have scored at least twice.
Hull City are only a place and a point above the bottom three. While they have won five away league matches this season, only two home games have been won hence their precarious position.
The Tigers have won only three of their last nine games in the Championship, all on their travels. We tip Sunderland to win.
