A goal in each half gave Ajax a comfortable looking 2-0 lead over Sturm Graz in this Champions League second qualifying round tie. Now comes the home leg and the Austrian side have to greatly improve on recent home performances in Europe if they want to have any chance of getting back into this tie. They have lost their last eight home games in either the Europa League or Champions League and haven't had any European competition run of any note since the 2011-12 season.

Ajax Amsterdam will be confident of getting into the third qualifying round and a difficult looking tie with Standard Liege from Belgium.
