Fourth seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas take on second seed Alexander Zverev in the Rome Masters semi-final. The winner of this match will face either Novak Djokovic or Casper Ruud in the final. Tsitsipas is only one place behind his opponent in the world rankings but a couple ahead of him in the ATP Race. Only Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have earned more ranking points than Tsitsipas this year. He'll go above Alcaraz if winning this match. Tsitsipas has won one tournament this year with success in the Monte Carlo Masters. He's bidding to reach his first final in Rome after losing in the 2019 semi-finals to Rafa Nadal. Ths week has seen him get wins over Grigor Dimitrov and Karen Khachanov (both three-setters) and in the last eight, Jannik Sinner in straight sets.

Alexander Zverev has the aim of reaching a second successive Masters final. He lost to Carlos Alcaraz in Madrid last week, though it might have been a different story if he'd had more sleep. He's having a consistent clay court season as the German also reached the Monte Carlo semi-finals. His only poor result was when losing to Holgar Rune in Munich, though his opponent did go on to win the title. Zverev hasn't won a title this year and also lost in the Montpellier final. He won this title in 2017 and lost in the final the year after. This week has seen him beat Sebastien Baez, Alex de Minaur and ChristIan Garin. He's yet to drop a set but has played a qualifier and two unseeded players. This is his 12th match against Tsitsipas and he trails the Greek 7-4.
