In what looks set to be an entertaining encounter, Sporting Kansas City host New England Revolution.  Both sides will have a point to prove, with the hosts currently bottom of the MLS Western Conference and New England sitting in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, albeit only two points away from the play-off places. After a disastrous start to the campaign, Kansas have shown improvement in recent games. Before losing to Vancouver, they held a mini three-game unbeaten run, winning against Houston and Colorado. Their games tend to be high-scoring, with four out of their last six in all competitions featuring Over 2,5 Goals. With dramatic changes set to be implemented in the club’s transfer plans and many players either long-term absentees or approaching the end of their careers, a rebuild is expected in the summer. In the meantime however, their defence is a considerable weak point, after conceding 13 times in their last six competitive games. The 7-2 thrashing to Portland Timbers was a result that stood out, leading head coach Doyle to refer to the team’s performance as an “embarrassment”. After the mid-March CONCACAF Champions League heartbreak against U.N.A.M., there were fears that New England’s positive momentum could be derailed. The three consecutive defeats that followed brought a lot of panic, but the away side have shown their desire to bounce back since then. They have scored in seven consecutive MLS games and despite conceding in six of their last six, they are within touching distance of the play off places.
