We're guaranteed at least one European country in the last eight of the 2023 Women's World Cup. Spain take on the Netherlands in the first quarter final on Friday August 11th. The Netherlands reached the final four years ago but were beaten by the USA. With those rivals out of the competition, they hope to reach a second successive semi-final by beating Spain. The winners of this match will take on either Japan (who have already beaten Spain) or Sweden.Limited Offer. Currently at Stake

Spain W - Netherlands W: Form Analysis
Spain finished second behind Japan in Group C with six points from their three games. They started their campaign well with a 3-0 win over Costa Rica and then putting five past Zambia without reply. However, they then got off to a terrible start against Japan, going 3-0 down in 40 minutes. They eventually lost 4-0 and a win here could see them facing the Japanese side again in the last four. Spain bounced back to form with a 5-1 victory over Switzerland with four of their goals coming in the first half. Nine of their last ten games have been won with 41 goals scored. They are currently sixth in the FIFA Women's rankings and that's three places ahead of their opponents.
The Netherlands did well to be the winners of Group E finishing two points clear of the USA. Their opening match saw them beat Portugal 1-0 and they followed that up with a 1-1 draw against the Americans. The Netherlands took the lead in the first half but conceded a second half equalizer. Their final group game saw them defeat Vietnam 7-0 with Brugts and Roord both scoring twice. That tool them into a last 16 match against surprise qualifiers South Africa. The Netherlands proved too strong for their opponents and won the match 2-0 with a goal in each half. They are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning five of them with 20 goals scored. Their last three matches against Spain have all been lost without the Netherlands getting on the scoresheet.

Spain W & Netherlands W Squad Analysis
Ivana Andres has missed the last two Spain matches but may return for this quarter final. Catalina Coll took over in goal from Misa Rodriguez for the match against Switzerland and is expected to keep her place. Aside from the possible return of Andres, an unchanged starting line-up looks on the cards. The Netherlands will be without defender Merel van Dongen after she sustained an ankle injury in training. Also missing will be the suspended Danielle van de Donk. Her possible replacement is Damaris Egurrola,
