Southampton vs Sheffield United Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Still winless in this Premier League season, Sheffield United travel to Southampton this weekend for a clash at St. Mary's. The Blades have made the worst start to a Premier League season this century, picking up only one point from their opening 11 games. This terrible record leaves them anchored in 20th place. The Saints are enjoying a bright start to the campaign that puts them fifth with 20 points, only four behind league leaders Tottenham. Their last outing saw them pick up a 2-1 win at Brighton, a fixture in which they benefitted from the awarding of a controversial penalty. Sheffield United, meanwhile, suffered more agony in their pursuit of points, conceding a last-minute Jamie Vardy goal in a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester. They go on the road this weekend without an away win in their previous 11 Premier League games, nine of which they lost. The Southampton team they face won three of their last four home games, all three of which ended two-nil. 

The Saints came out on top in both league meetings last season, winning the home fixture 3-1. While three of the previous six meetings featured fewer than two goals, we don't see this game being that low on goalmouth action. Southampton have scored at least two goals in their last six league fixtures at home. Danny Ings is once again proving to be a threat in the top flight, scoring six goals so far, and he could take advantage of a Sheffield United defence low on confidence. Back the home side to win.
