Southampton vs Brighton Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

It's been another slow start to the season for Southampton who start the weekend in 12th place in the Premier League. They have four points from their first four league games of the season and their manager Mark Hughes is bemoaning the recent international break because their only league win of the season came in their last match when beating Crystal Palace 2-0 away from home. Their home form this season has so far seen them draw 0-0 with Burnley and lose 2-1 to Leicester City. Their other league game was a 2-1 loss at Everton but looking at their fixture list they might have expected a few more points than they have. Southampton have won two games in a row without conceding as they also won 1-0 away at Brighton in the Carabao Cup. Goals are still a bit of a problem for them but new signing Danny Ings has scored a couple of goals so far.

Brighton and Hove Albion are 14th in the table and only below Southampton on goal difference having also taken four points from their first four matches. Their only win so far was that shock defeat of Manchester United but that was at home and their away form leaves a lot to be desired. So far this season they have lost at both Watford and Liverpool and have lost their last four and played 15 games in the Premier League without a victory. It's not a problem that is new because their last 50 away games in the top-flight have only produced three wins. They had to come from 2-0 down to get a 2-2 home draw with Fulham in their last league game and have played three games without a win since that victory over Manchester United.  Southampton have home advantage and have only lost one of their last eight games against their opponents, go for a narrow home win for the Saints.
