Southampton vs Arsenal Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Arsenal aim to put a string of bad results behind them when they travel to Southampton for Premier League action on Thursday. The Gunners are tenth in the table, 11 points adrift of the top four and travel to 14th placed Southampton. Arsenal will be hoping that Manchester City's European ban remains as that puts them only six points off fifth place. The home side are only three points behind their opponents but their more immediate concern will be quickly obtaining a points total that eradicates the threat of relegation. Currently ten points clear of the drop, seeing Southampton drop out of the division would be a shock based on their last performance. Danny Ings notched his 16th goal of the Premier League season in a strong 3-0 win over Norwich at Carrow Road. Away from home, the Saints are a different beast, with only five teams having a better record on the road. It is at St. Mary's Stadium where they struggle badly, anchoring the bottom of the Premier League home table, winning only four of the 15 games they've played on their own patch. It is worth noting that they are unbeaten in their last two home games against Arsenal and won this fixture 3-2 last season.

Mikel Arteta's side have been abysmal since returning from the break. Starting off with a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City was predictable enough but the follow-up display in the 2-1 loss at Brighton was substandard even by the expectations Arsenal have lowered in recent seasons. And things don't look like improving for the Gunners. They are in a contract stand-off with their star forward, Aubameyang, and have a lengthy list of absentees for this match, including Xhaka, Torreira and Luiz. Their defence has looked dodgy for much of the campaign and even more so since the restart. While Southampton have a terrible home record, we don't see them falling to an Arsenal side that has failed to win any of their last seven away matches in the Premier League.
