Sheffield Wednesday vs Reading Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Sheffield Wednesday are one from bottom in the Championship and host Reading who are fourth. The home side wouldn't be in the relegation zone but for their six point deduction. Given those points back though, they'd still only be 19th in the table. They began the season with Gary Monk in charge but after a poor start to the season, replaced him with Tony Pulis. He's still looking for his first win though with a defeat and two draws so far. Critics of his style of play will quickly note that all three matches have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. The weekend saw them draw 0-0 at Stoke, their second straight draw against a side currently in the top eight. Goals are a problem for Wednesday though with just seven scored in 14 league matches this season. At home, the last two have both ended 0-0 with them scoring just once in the last four. It's not a short-term problem though, Wednesday haven't scored more than once in a home league fixture in the last 20 played. Just nine goals have been scored in those 20 games and they failed to score in ten of them. 

Reading had a five point lead at the top of the table a few weeks ago. Then their form totally deserted them with a run of four straight league defeats and 13  goals conceded. If that had continued, they could have continued to slide down the league but the past week has been better for them. Reading came from behind to get a point at Millwall and then on Saturday, beat Bristol City 3-1 at home. Those three points have taken them back up to fifth in the Championship and only two points behind the league leaders Norwich City.  Now they have four games against sides all in the bottom ten, before a home match with Norwich. They won't just be glad to get back earning points but conceding just two goals in the last two matches is a major step forward. Away form has seen them win three games so far, this is a good opportunity to make it four.
