Crystal Palace have a chance to secure their Premier League status this weekend when they take on already relegated Sheffield United. Hosts Sheffield have 17 points ahead of this game and are bottom of the standings while Palace have 38 points, in 13th place. Sheffield are already planning for life in the second tier but before they head there, they have four league matches to honor. They are coming from a 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, and failure to score in that game makes it seven matches in the last 10 that they’ve failed to hit the back of the net. Sheffield have lost eight of their last 10 league matches and have failed to score more than a goal in their last 12 league matches. At home this season they have four wins in 17 league matches and in the last six, they’ve lost four and won two. In the 17 home league matches, they’ve managed just three clean sheets.

Crystal Palace are currently 11 points above the relegation zone and two more points from their remaining five matches will be enough to guarantee survival. They have a game in hand going to this clash and will be hoping they can get a win here to wrap it all up. Palace’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United in January was the first in the last three meetings and another such result will put them out of reach for the bottom three sides. They however need to improve defensively, having conceded two or more goals in their last three league matches and have just one clean sheet in the last five. In the last five matches, Palace have conceded nine goals, with six of them coming in the second half. Away from home Palace have three straight winless outings and have managed just two wins in their last 11. They’ve failed to score in one of the last five away matches and have no clean sheet in the last seven. In 17 away league matches this season, Palace have managed just one clean sheet.
