Shakhtar Donetsk host Roma in the first leg of their last sixteen tie in the Champions League and know they need to build up a good lead. The Ukranians have a great home record but the fact is that they have only won two of their last 11 away ties in this competition so the work has to be done at home if they are to have any chance of making the quarter finals. Donetsk finished second in their group behind Manchester City,, but they did manage to get a home win over the English side. In that group they won all three of their home ties and have won five of their last six home matches in the Champions League. The other game was a 4-3 home loss to Real Madrid. They have conceded in four of their last five home Champions League games so might need to improve on that, as the last thing they want to do is see Roma get an away goal. The Italian side did well to top their group ahead of Chelsea but only scored nine goals and six of those came in their two games against the English side. Away from home in that group they drew at Chelsea, lost to Atletco Madrid and beat bottom of the table Qarabag. They have only won two of their last eight away games and more worryingly that win over Qarabag is their only away win in this competition in their last 13 games. Shakhtar can be backed to get a narrow home win.
