Sevilla will play host to Real Betis this weekend in a clash that is set to have an impact on the top four race in La Liga. Ahead of this game at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Sevilla are holding on to fourth place with 48 points while Betis are sixth on 42. Hosts Sevilla have struggled in recent weeks and a poor run has seen them eliminated from two competitions and are left winless in their last four matches across all competitions. They are coming from a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, having earlier suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Elche in La Liga. The recent slump has all but knocked Sevilla out of contention for the La Liga title as they are now 14 points behind the leaders, though with a game in hand. Real Sociedad are just three points behind Sevilla in the standings and with the hunger they’ve shown, any more slip ups from Sevilla and they’ll lose fourth place. Sevilla’s key man in this game will be top scorer Youssef En-Nesyri, who is in fine form and comes here having netted twice in the 2-2 draw with Dortmund.

Real Betis are not too far behind. They are currently occupying the final Europa League slot but would want to push further for a Champions League slot and this is the best game to express that ambition. They are six points behind Sevilla and should be thinking of shocking their hosts here. A great second half fight in the last game saw Betis beat Alaves 3-2, having trailed 2-0 after 24 minutes and up to the hour mark. That win was their fourth straight and Borja Iglesias scored twice to hit four goals in the last five matches. They’ve now scored at least two goals in three of their last five matches and kept two clean sheets in the five games. Betis’ only loss in the last 10 La Liga matches came against Barcelona. Even then, they matched the Catalans blow for blow, only losing after Victor Ruiz’s unfortunate own goal and a late Francisco Trincao strike. They have seven wins in 10 La Liga matches. A slow start to the season really messed Betis; it is the reason they have the most losses in the top seven. Away from home, the team is also getting the act together and head to Seville unbeaten in their last six away matches in all competitions.
