After earning a ticket to League A of the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League (UNL) in contrasting fashions, Serbia and Greece look to earn a crucial win when they meet on matchday one on Thursday. This group 2 match at Stadion Rajko Mitic in Belgrade between the ‘Eagles’ and the Greeks is likely to be a low-scoring encounter with under 2.5 goals, our match prediction.
The other teams in this group are Germany and the Netherlands. With only the top two sides advancing to the quarter-finals, the other two remain in the race for relegation play-offs or get relegated to League B.
Serbia failed to qualify for the World Cup and have struggled in recent friendlies as well. Three defeats out of four (W1) are an apt reflection of their struggles, with two of those losses coming without scoring. Their UNL form is slightly better with a four-game unbeaten run (W1, D3) earning a ticket to League A, thanks to a 3-1 aggregate win over Austria.
Greece have also failed to qualify for the World Cup, which meant their last four matches were friendlies (D2, L2), failing to score in three of those games. Their performance in the previous UNL edition was better, with six wins out of eight games (L2), which included a 3-1 aggregate win over Scotland.
