by Daniel Ngulu in Tennis Predictions
Second seed Grigor Dimitrov begins his Open 13 Provence campaign with a second-round showdown with Sebastian Korda. The winner will then proceed to battle either Arthur Rinderknech or Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals. Sebastian Korda has the upper hand in this ongoing fixture with Dimitrov. He won their only encounter to date two seasons ago in Washington. He will be hoping for more of the same in his bid for a third successive victory. The American, who defeated Hugo Grenier 2-1 in the first round, has won both matches he has played on indoor hard courts. He is currently ranked 34th in the live ranking and has compiled a 6-3 record.
Grigor Dimitrov was a quarterfinalist here last season. As he has been in excellent form this year, he will be confident of a deeper run in his fourth appearance in Marseille. The Bulgarian, who is now making his season debut on indoor hard courts, has compiled a 7-1 record. He began the season with a title triumph in Brisbane and followed this up with a third-round Australian Open finish. The 32-year-old hasn’t taken to the court since then and has had more than two weeks to refresh. He is currently ranked 13th in the ATP.
