Andrey Rublev bids to reach the Miami Open semi-final for the first time in his career. The number four seeds takes on unseeded Sebastian Korda for a place in the last four. Before this tournament, Rublev had never made it past the third round in Miami. He's a much improved player since this tournament was last held in 2019. Rublev has won two tournaments so far this year. The first was with Russia in the ATP Cup and then he was victorious in Rotterdam. Of his five tournaments played this year, he has made the quarter final in each of them. Other notable performances have seen him reach the last eight of the Australian Open and the last four in both Doha and Dubai. In Miami, Rublev has won three matches, all in straight sets and losing just 14 games. That included beating Marton Fucsovics in a rematch from the Rotterdam final but this time he only lost three games.
Sebastian Korda is ranked 87th in the world so was definitely not expected to reach the last eight in Miami. He began the year with a run to the final of the Delray Beach Open. He beat Cameron Norrie and John Isner on his way to the final but lost to Hubert Hurkacz. He did get a title in his next tournament though winning a Challenger tour event in France. Back on the main tour, Korda played in Montpellier and Acupulco, being knocked out in the last 16 of both events. He did get wins over Marin Cilic and Jo-Wilfied Tsonga to show he can beat higher ranked players. He didn't play in this years Australian Open but did get to the fourth round in Paris last year, so keep an eye on him during the upcoming clay season. Korda is playing in his first Miami Open and had never previously made it past the first round of a Masters event. That's all changed in this tournament with wins over three seeds. Fabio Fognini, Aslan Karatsev and Diego Schwartzmann have all been beaten. This is a tough task though, go for under 21.5 games to be played.
