Sebastian Baez vs Jenson Brooksby Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Chengdu Open

Sebastian Baez is the seeded player in this first round match in the Chengdu Open. The eighth seed is not in the best of form at present though and takes on unseeded Jenson Brooksby. Baez has a terrible indoor hard court record and our prediction here is a win for Brooksby.

The winner will take on unseeded opposition in round two, either Lorenzo Sonego or James Duckworth.

Baez is ranked 51st in the world and that's 26 places above his opponent. He has been beaten in three of his last four matches; The most recent loss was to Brandon Nakashima in the US Open and he only won three games in as many sets in a terrible loss.

His best recent form has been a run to the final of a Challenger Tour event in Cancun.

On indoor hard courts, Baez has lost his last 11 matches, last winning in October 2023.

Jenson Brooksby trails Baez 2-0 in previous meetings. Both were played this year but on other surfaces.

Brooksby has lost four of his last five matches, but has been meeting some strong opposition, including Ben Shelton, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jaime Faria at the US Open. He's only won one of his last five indoor hard court matches, so this really is a match for low stakes.
