Braga welcome Sporting at the Estadio Municipal de Braga on Saturday as two sides square off in the Primeira Liga on Matchday two. Both the sides faced off a couple of weeks earlier in the Portuguese Super Cup in which Sporting had the last laugh with a 2-1 win. Jovane Cabral and Pedro Goncalves scored the two goals for Sporting while Fransergio Barbosa netted the consolation strike for Braga. Sporting finished top of the Primeira Liga in the previous season, winning their 19th top division title. The Leos come into the fixture on the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over Vizela on the opening weekend of the Primeira Liga. Pedro Goncalves continued his goal-scoring form by netting a brace followed by a late Paulinho strike. Sporting lost just once in the previous season and had conceded the least number of goals (20) under Ruben Amorim. Sporting  have also won the last four head to head games with Braga across all competitions.

Braga, on the contrary, will be aiming for payback after the Super Cup defeat. They started their Primeira Liga campaign on a high as well by winning 2-0 over Maritimo. Raul Silva and Ricardo Horta scored the two goals for Braga. The Os Arcebispos sealed a Europa League spot after finishing fourth in the previous Primeira Liga season under the tutelage of Carlos Carvalhal. Interestingly, Braga's Super Cup loss to Sporting ended the formers' 11-game unbeaten run as well.
