The weekend begins with Sao Paulo a point behind the league leaders Flamengo. The top of the table side host Botafogo on Saturday so they could be four points clear of the second placed team before this match kicks off. However, if they fail to win, then Sao Paulo can go top with a win in this match. They are in good form at present with three straight league wins and they have gone four matches without conceding a goal. They have only lost one of their last 16 games and they are undefeated at home with four wins and two draws so far this season and are on a 16-game unbeaten run at home in Serie A.

Their opponents are eighth in the table and seven points behind Sao Paulo. They beat Botafogo at home last week but that ended a run of four league games without a win during which they only scored once. Away form in Serie A this season has seen Corinthians earn just four points from six games. All tight affairs though with Corinthians scoring four goals but conceding only six but they have failed to score in their last two away matches. This looks booked for a home win for Sao Paulo.
