St. Etienne picked a 1 – 0 win over Nimes in their most recent match and ended a run of seven winless matches. It was just their second win of the season after nine matches and having lost 2 – 3 to Gent in their opening Group I match, they will look at this as the chance to get back on track. It may not be as easy as that though; they are set to face a team unbeaten in the eight matches they have played in the season so far and started their Europa League campaign on a winning note, beating Oleksandria 3 – 1. Wolfsburg’s main issue going to this game will be the few clean sheets they have managed, having kept just two in their opening eight matches. Both these two sides have managed just a clean sheet in the last five matches and while Wolfsburg have scored in each of the five, St. Etienne have failed to score in just one of the five. Wolfsburg have not scored more than a goal in four of their last five matches, which has occasioned them to draw three of their last five matches.

This season already, Wolfsburg have played four away matches and won three, drawing one. St. Etienne on their part, have no home win in the three home matches they have played, drawing two and losing one. This will be the first ever competitive meeting between these two sides.
