Saint Etienne vs Lyon Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Saint Eienne have made a terrible start to the new Ligue 1 season. After eight league games they find themselves one from bottom in the table. Although only in the relegation zone on goal difference, it's not the position they'd expect to be in, especially as they are in the Europa League this season. They host Lyon who are in the Champions League but only eighth in Ligue 1. Saint Etienne did at least win their last league game, a 1-0 win at Nimes who are 16th in the table and lost their last two league games.. Before that the home side in this game had gone six games without a win. Their only other league victory was a win over Dijon in August and they are currently bottom of the table. Home form has seen Saint Etienne struggle with just two points from three games. Only one match has been lost and that was to newly promoted Metz who are 17th in the league. All three of their home league games have been against sides currently in the bottom six. Midweek saw them draw at home with Wolfsburg in the Europa League giving them just a point from their first two games.

Lyon are also having a struggle this season and in 12th place are already five points off the final Europa League qualification place and seven adrift of another season in the Champions League. They come into this game having no wins in the last six league games. That's surprising after they started the season with a 3-0 away win at Monaco and a 6-0 home thrashing of Angers. Since then they have earned just three draws from six league matches. Away form started well with that win but has detiorated with a loss at Montpellier and draws with Amiens and Brest. They did have a good win in midweek though, winning 2-0 at RB Leipzig in the Champions League That followed a home draw with Zenit so they could make the last sixteen. That result must have boosted confidence, go for a double chance bet on Lyon to win or draw this match.
