The German Cup resumes and has reached its semi-final stage. Saarbrucken, who play in the fourth tier of German football have had a long wait for this game. They host Bayer Leverkusen who are fifth in the Bundesliga. The home side play in the  Regionalliga Sudwest, a league they currently top by six points. That league hasn't resumed yet and Saarbrucken haven't played since 7 March. They have never reached the final of the German Cup and this is their first semi-final in 35 years. To reach this stage, they have already beaten two Bundesliga II sides (Regensburg and Karlshruher) and both FC Koln and Fortuna Dusseldorf from the Bundesliga. Both their wins over Regensburg and FC Koln were by 3-2 home scorelines with the winning goal coming in the 90th minute.

Those two Bundesliga scalps were against sides currently in the bottom half of the table, Bayer Leverkusen will be a lot tougher nut to crack. They are fifth in the table and looking likely to be in the Europa League next season. That's if they don't win that competition this season, in which case they will head into the Champions League. The weekend saw them lose at home to Bayern Munich in what could well be a dress rehearsal for the German Cup final. Leverkusen have had a couple of home losses against top six sides in recent weeks but have won six of their last eight matches in all competitions. Six of their last seven away games have been won and five of their last six away games in this competition. Leverkusen will be too strong for the home side, go for them to win this game and be ahead at both half and full time.
