Rotherham vs Coventry City Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Daniel Ngulu | in Championship Prediction
Rotherham United have started playing their catch-up games and there’s going to be very little rest as they go on a run of four matches in eight days. The second of those comes on Thursday, at home to Coventry City and it is a crucial one. Rotherham heads to this game placed 22nd with 39 points while Coventry are 21st with 42 points. Three points separate the two promoted sides fighting to avoid going straight back to League One. With two games in hand over Coventry, Rotherham have an edge, only if they can handle the tight schedule. They are coming from a good win over QPR, rising from a goal down to win 3-1, keeping their status as the most prolific side in the bottom five, having now scored 41 goals. Michael Smith has scored 10 of those, the latest coming in the QPR win as the team returned to scoring ways for the first time in four matches. That win also brought to an end a spell of five straight home losses and having a better goal difference, a win on Thursday will see them rise off the relegation zone.
Coventry City can make a massive step in their own survival fight here. A win could see them rise three places up, to 18th but to get that they have to improve on their performance against Bournemouth. The visitors are coming from a 4-1 away loss in that game and without defender Josh Pask who suffered a head injury. They’ve won just once in the last five matches, lost three, failed to score in three and kept one clean sheet. The Sky Blues have collected only four points from a possible 15 in the last five matches. Key to that has been a weak defence that has let in two or more goals in three of the last five matches. Coventry’s away form has also been poor in recent matches, failing to win any of the last nine, while managing just one win in the last 11 in the Championship. From a possible 33 points in 11 away games, they’ve collected just five. They head here with three straight away losses in the Championship, conceding twice or more in each, and failing to score in two.

Our Rotherham vs Coventry City Prediction
Coventry will be well rested for this game but Rotherham will want to build on the momentum after the comeback against QPR. Rotherham haven’t been good at home in their recent matches, and neither have Coventry been in their away matches. Both these sides have been slow starters in their recent matches; Rotherham have led at half time in one of their last five matches and Coventry trailed at half time in three of their last five matches. A draw at half time looks good, with both sides expected to employ a cautious approach.
