Rivers United will be hoping to make a late surge for qualification to the knockout rounds in the CAF Confederation Cup when they play host to Dreams on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are currently in third place in the group standings, while the visitors are in the lead. Rivers United are currently level on nine points with second-placed Club Africain, but the Tunisian outfit are ahead owing to a better head-to-head goal difference of two. That means Rivers will need to win this game and hope that CA drops points to Academia do Lobito in the other match in the group. The Pride of Rivers kept their qualification hopes alive with a 3-2 away win over Academia last week, marking their third win in the competition, along with two losses. At home, Rivers have won both games in the Confederation Cup and maintained clean sheets in both matches while scoring four goals themselves. They are also on a three-match winning streak at home in all competitions and are unbeaten in their last 18 games at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, dating back to the start of May last year.  

Meanwhile, Dreams have gotten themselves into a very strong position to reach the knockouts, but the job is not done yet. A draw or win will guarantee them top spot in the group, but a loss could make things much closer. The visitors are three points above the sides in second and third, which means if they lose this match and Club Africain win theirs, the Tunisians will top the group with a better head-to-head goal difference. The reverse match between these sides ended 2-1 in favour of Dreams, therefore, if Still Believe lose this match by two or more goals, they will be overtaken by their opponents in this one. However, the visitors will come into this match with confidence, having won each of their last four games in this competition. On the road, though, Dreams conceded two goals in both matches in the Confederation Cup and managed to win one but lost the other. They will have to tighten up in defence here, or this could come down to the slenderest of margins.
