Rennes will be buzzing after their French Cup title during the weekend, defeating PSG on penalties. It was only their third title in their history. Now they take on Ligue 1 strugglers Monaco, who lie 3 points above the drop zone. They still sit just 11th in the table but Rennes are setting themselves up for an exciting season next year, especially with Europa League football. Despite the cup win, Rennes haven’t been in the finest vein of form with no wins in their last six league games. They have scored six goals in their last four league games but have picked up just two points in this time. They have also won just one of their last four home games which doesn’t set them up with much confidence for this game, they will hope that the cup win can be a turning point for them though. Monaco lost last week to PSG (1-3) which was expected but with a rather tricky run-in consisting of Saint-Étienne, Nîmes and Nice all still to come after this Rennes match, Monaco need to be on top of their game. Monaco have won just one of their last eight away matches, conceding 13 goals along the way. Just one of their last five away have ended in defeat though which may give les Monegasques a boost as they face a team they most recently beat on penalties in January.
