Valencia did enjoy a comfortable win in their last La Liga outing but they don’t come back  home with very good news after their loss to Juventus meant they can’t advance to the second round of the UEFA Champions League. They have all to play for in the league though, having had a good run lately that has seen them leap to 11th place after a poor start to the season and they will be hoping to measure against a Real Madrid side that has been a pale shadow of the team of yesteryears. The back to back wins ahead of this game were their second and third in the season and Valencia will be hoping to make it three in a row when they take on the European champions who have managed just six wins in their 13 matches so far and sit sixth on the log with 20 points, just three above Valencia and six behind league leaders Sevilla. Defensively, Valencia are much better than Real Madrid, having conceded just nine in the opening 13 matches, while Real have shipped in 19 goals and have a goal difference of +1. For Real Madrid, save for the shock loss to Eibar, it has been a rather stable stroll since their fall at Camp Nou, which led to changes in the technical team. In the six matches after the 5 – 1 loss to Barcelona, Real Madrid have managed five wins across all competitions, with four clean sheets therein and scoring 17 goals.
