La Liga action this Friday night sees Real Madrid hosting Eibar at the Bernabeu. Second in the table, Los Blancos surrendered the opportunity to go top on Sunday when they lost 2-1 to a Real Betis team without a win in six games. It means that Madrid have failed to win three of their last four league matches. At the opposite end of the table, Eibar have also only managed one victory in four. 16th in the table, two points clear of the relegation zone, they also suffered a defeat at the weekend. Mallorca visited Eibar and left with a 2-1 victory, Real Madrid loanee Kuba scoring what proved to be the winning goal. They have a game in hand on their relegation rivals which will be played on Tuesday against Real Sociedad. We will update this article after that game has been played. With Sociedad contending for a Champions League place, hopes of a positive result will not be very high.

Two games in four days is a tough schedule for any team let alone one that has to play clubs in the top half of the top half. Eibar have lost five of their last six matches against Real Madrid. Only one of their 13 matches on the road has ended in victory, the second-worst away record in La Liga. This isn't a classic Madrid team, but rather a Madrid in transition. A team in need of freshening up, the first team is made up of haggard stars (who are still often world-class) and emerging talent. Even so, they are expected to swat aside Eibar. Unbeaten at home in La Liga, Madrid have kept four clean sheets in their last six home games. We expect them to prepare for their upcoming match at Manchester City with a win and a clean sheet over Eibar.
