Eighth-place Reading host third-placed Wrexham in third place for this rescheduled matchday 26 fixture in England’s League One. The Royals are looking to close the gap on the playoff positions while the Red Dragons are targeting an automatic promotion. Here’s our prediction for this intriguing match.
Reading come into Tuesday’s clash with a five-point gap separating themselves and sixth-place Bolton. They’ve done well to rattle off an eight-match unbeaten run but they’ll have to start converting on the full three points as five of those results ended in draws.
That includes Reading’s last two matches: a goalless draw at home with Exeter last Tuesday preceded a 1-1 stalemate away to Crawley at the weekend.
The hosts can take confidence from their excellent home results where they’ve won 11 times in 17 League One appearances.
Hollywood-backed Wrexham are eyeing an audacious double promotion after finishing second in League Two last season. As things stand at the time of writing, they’re even on points with second-place Wycombe Wanderers, trailing only on goal differential.
The visitors have won their last two matches in a row following their 1-0 home victory over Rotherham on Saturday. In League One, Wrexham are now unbeaten in their last four and have posted a 6-1-1 record in their last seven.

Our Reading vs Wrexham Prediction
Reading have been a tough out at home this season and this isn’t likely to be an easy game for Wrexham. To top it off, the Royals will have revenge on their minds after suffering a heavy 3-0 loss earlier in the season in the reverse fixture.
Whether playing home or away, the Red Dragons have been excellent on the defensive side and have conceded the second-fewest goals in the division. Reading, to their credit, have also been very solid defensively when playing at Madejski Stadium where they have conceded only 14 times. Our Reading vs Wrexham prediction: under 2.5.
