Reading welcome Watford to the Madejski Stadium this weekend in the big match of the Championship weekend. Top of the table after three wins from three, Reading have enjoyed an extremely solid opening. Watford, adapting to Championship football after their relegation in the summer, aren't far behind fifth with seven points from three games. Yet to concede a league goal this season, the Hornets have only scored twice themselves. Reading won their opening home match but a look at their previous home outings suggests that Watford have little to fear. The Royals had failed to win 10 of the 11 home league matches prior to that win over Barnsley. Watford won on their last two visits to the Madejski and are unbeaten in six at that venue. Overall, Watford are unbeaten in nine of their last 11 games against Reading. We foresee the visitors improving that record on Saturday.

The game will probably be decided by one of the talented Portuguese-speaking forwards taking to the pitch. For Reading, Lucas Joao has been a revelation, scoring five goals in four competitive appearances. In the yellow corner, eight years his junior, 19-year-old Joao Pedro will line out for Watford hoping to add to the winner he scored against Luton Town last week. It was the teenager's first goal for the club and he scored it on his birthday. If the game is decided by the odd goal, one of these players is likely to get it. Three of the last four matches between these featured fewer than three goals. We see a repeat of that occurring here.
