2018/19 was a difficult season for both of these clubs. Reading spent most of it battling relegation to League One, while Cardiff City were in the bottom three of the Premier League. Reading survived but Cardiff returned to the Championship. Neither side have made a good start to the new season but there have been a few goals scored. Reading began the new campaign with a 3-1 home defeat by Sheffield Wednesday The visitors took the lead, Reading equalized in the second half only to go 2-1 down. Wednesday having a player sent off didn't stop them getting a third in the 97th minute. Reading then traveled to Hull City and found themselves 2-0 down after just 16 minutes. They eventually lost the match 2-1. Midweek saw them go to League One Wycombe Wanderers, drawing 1-1 after going 1-0 down but winning the penalty shoot-out.

Cardiff City have won one and lost one of their two games back in the Championship. First up was a trip to Wigan Athletic and it looked as if a winning start was going to be made. They were 2-0 up at half time but collapsed in the second half to lose 3-2. There was more success at home though as Cardiff defeated Luton Town 2-1. Again they went 2-0 up but this time held on for the victory. A bet on over 2.5 goals looks the one to go for here.
