The Champions League reaches the Second Round of qualifying here with the first leg battle between two sides who are three steps away from reaching the group stages.  The Allianz Stadion in Vienna is the venue for this encounter on Tuesday evening between Rapid Vienna and Sparta Prague.

Rapid Vienna qualified for this stage having finished second in the Austrian Bundesliga last season with 45 points seven behind the eventual winners Salzburg.  The Austrian side are looking to make the group stages for the first time since 2005/06 and only for the second time in the modern format (although they have made the semi-finals back in the 60s).  They warmed up on Friday night with an Austrian Cup game where they comfortably ran out 6-0 winners.

Sparta Prague qualified for the Champions League by finishing second in the Czech league coming some 12 points behind their local rivals Slavia Prague.  They will be looking to find some form in this competition having gone five without a victory with their last success dating back to 2014.  They warmed up for this encounter with a friendly against Dinamo Moscow and the game finished honours even in a 2-2 draw.
